How to get a good night's sleep
Getting your full eight hours a night has massive benefits for your health and well-being, but it's not always as easy as laying down and immediately drifting off. Here are some of our tops tips for helping you get a good night's sleep, every night.
Have a wind-down routine
If you're busy from the moment you wake up to the minute you get back into bed, your brain will struggle to switch off. Establishing a wind-down routine that you can carry out each night will help your brain switch to relax mode. Why not try, an hour before bed, putting down your smartphone and turning off the TV. Some people also find having a warm bath, reading a book, doing some light stretches, or listening to relaxation sounds to help them switch off from the rest of the day.
Choose the right mattress
You need to feel comfortable to be able to drift off, so a bad mattress can often be one of the biggest obstacles to getting a good night's sleep. Did you know that the softer isn't always the better when it comes to a mattress? Sometimes, a firmer mattress like our Brick Mattress may offer you the support you need. Be sure to do your research to find a mattress type for you.

Create a sleep-friendly environment
Your brain needs to associate your bedroom with sleep, so if you use your bedroom for other activities, such as working, your brain will struggle to see it as a relaxing environment. TVs, light, noise and a bad bed can stop your brain seeing your room as the zen environment it should be. Make sure your bedroom is tidy, you remove electronics, get some thick curtains and ensure you have a high-quality bed. Not all beds are built equally, so it's worth looking into our heavy-duty beds. For those who are overweight or if you just want a durable bed that's built to last, a reinforced bed is incredibly beneficial.

Sleep at regular times
Set a regular sleeping pattern to programme your brain to know when it's time to go to bed. Adults generally need between 6-9 hours a night, so try to work out the best bedtime and wake up times to fit your routine. Don't be tempted to have a lie-in on weekends or you'll mess up your new pattern. Following these steps will be sure to help you drift off and regularly get the sleep and rest your body needs.
