Memory Foam Mattresses
Supportive Memory Foam Mattresses
Memory foam mattresses are designed to adapt to the shape of the body, creating a supportive sleeping surface with less bounce than many traditional spring-only mattresses. At Reinforced Beds, our memory foam range includes several different constructions, from layered all-foam mattresses to pocket sprung mattresses finished with a memory foam comfort layer.
This means choosing a memory foam mattress is not simply about choosing one material. The right option will depend on the level of support you prefer, the type of bed it will be used with and whether you require additional features such as higher weight support, a reduced mattress depth or specialist protective construction.
Which Memory Foam Mattress Should I Choose?
| Mattress | Construction | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Reflections Memory Mattress | Layered foam with memory foam comfort layer | Sleepers wanting supportive all-foam construction |
| Reflections Bariatric Mattress | Higher-support layered foam construction | Heavier sleepers requiring greater structural support |
| Brick Memory Mattress | Pocket springs with memory foam comfort layer | Sleepers wanting strong spring support with memory foam comfort |
| Bunk Bed Memory Mattress | Lower-profile foam and memory foam construction | Bunk beds where mattress depth needs to be considered |
| Anti Vandal Mattress | Specialist foam construction with protective outer covering | More demanding residential and specialist environments |
All-Foam vs Pocket Sprung Memory Foam Mattresses
Memory foam can be used in several different mattress constructions. An all-foam mattress uses different densities and types of foam to create both the supporting core and the comfort layers. This can provide a stable sleeping surface with very little spring movement.
A pocket sprung memory foam mattress combines individual pocket springs with a memory foam comfort layer. The springs provide the main structural support while the foam creates a more responsive surface feel. Our Brick Memory Mattress uses this type of hybrid construction and forms part of the wider Brick Mattress Range.

Memory Foam Mattresses for Heavier Sleepers
A firmer feel and memory foam construction are not the same thing. Memory foam describes the material used within the mattress, while firmness describes how resistant the sleeping surface feels when weight is applied.
Some mattresses within this collection have been developed to provide substantially greater support than conventional domestic mattresses. If weight capacity and reduced mattress compression are your main priorities, compare our heavy duty mattresses alongside our firm and extra firm mattresses.
Always check the specification of the individual mattress rather than assuming that every memory foam mattress provides the same level of support.
Specialist Memory Foam Mattresses
Memory foam can also be incorporated into mattresses designed for more specific applications. Our Bunk Bed Memory Mattress uses a shallower construction suitable for bunk beds where maintaining the correct guard-rail clearance is important. You can compare this with our other bunk bed mattresses.
For more demanding environments, specialist foam mattresses can combine supportive internal layers with durable protective covers. These products are designed around different priorities from a conventional bedroom mattress, so factors such as cleanability, durability and the intended environment should also form part of the selection process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are memory foam mattresses suitable for heavier sleepers?
They can be, but the overall mattress construction matters more than the presence of memory foam alone. Heavier sleepers should check the stated weight capacity, support layers and mattress depth rather than assuming every memory foam mattress will provide sufficient support.
Do memory foam mattresses feel hot to sleep on?
Traditional memory foam can retain more body heat than some other materials because it moulds closely around the sleeper. The overall feel will vary depending on the foam density, cover material and the other layers used within the mattress.
How long does a memory foam mattress take to adjust to your body?
Memory foam responds to body heat and pressure, so the surface begins adapting within minutes of lying on it. A new mattress may also take several nights for the sleeper to become accustomed to its different feel, particularly when moving from a traditional sprung mattress.
