Is a reinforced bed good for your mental health?

There’s nothing like a good night’s sleep. Experts agree the quality of sleep can affect a person’s mental health, so choosing a bed can be beneficial to your overall health.

What is a reinforced bed?

A reinforced bed is simply designed to support more weight or strain from continued use. They have a stronger support structure than non-reinforced beds, which means they can withstand more movement and physical force. Additionally, they can last longer than non-reinforced bed bases for this reason.

Things to consider

A couple of significant factors to consider when choosing a bed include:

  • Mattress firmness: how soft or hard your mattress is.
  • Bedframe stability: how strong the bed base is.
  • Overall size: king, double, small double, single etc.

These may seem inconsequential but take your mattress. They can last up to eight years, but if you choose a mattress which causes you discomfort, this can impede the quality of your sleep. A mattress which is too firm might cause lumbar issues, while a mattress which is too soft can make you feel like you’re sinking. We all have the fantasy of lying spread eagle in a king-sized bed, luxuriating in all the extra room, and it’s for these bed sizes you might need a sturdy frame, such as the Wyoming.

Feeling supported

A reinforced bed supports you in ways that a standard bed might not. Choosing a bed which also comes with a heavy-duty mattress – such as the Brick Mattress - offers a lot in the way of lumbar support while sleeping in addition to comfort. The Wyoming Bed might also be a good choice. One of the benefits of a reinforced bed frame is you don’t get that ‘sagging’ feeling when you climb in after a long day.

Mental health

We have already established that the quality of your sleep can influence your mental health. If you wake up feeling stiff and sore from sleeping on a rough mattress, you will likely focus on that all day. A reinforced bed can reinforce feelings of support while you’re sleeping, helping you feel safe and comfortable when you wake up.

It can be said that a reinforced bed is the first step towards improving your overall health. Feeling supported while you sleep, along with a mattress that cradles and lifts you is sure to ease your mind, and leave you feeling rested after a good night’s sleep.
