3 ways a reinforced bed is stronger than a regular bed
Regular beds are a great option for your average person, but what if you don’t have average needs? If you’re looking for a robust bed to accommodate your above average weight for example, then you’ll need to look further than the usual wooden slated bed. This is also true if the bed you are looking for needs to survive challenging behaviour, or if you simply want a bed that lasts.
Reinforced beds, also known as heavy-duty beds, are built to last and are solid enough to accommodate a heavy-duty mattress. These beds, like the ones found at Reinforced Beds, have special features that make them cope easily with up to 65 stone (based on two people sharing). So, what makes them so special?
Single unit
Part of the Endurance Collection, The Wyoming is a great example of a reinforced bed. The Wyoming’s single base is in one piece and the headboard and footboard need to be bolted on. This format gives the bed it’s strength. Larger sized Wyoming beds are created by bolting two units together, making a secure and long-lasting bed.
Mesh base
A common feature of a normal bed is the arrangement of wooden slats as a base for the mattress. This is usually enough for the average-sized person. However, for the heavier adult, leaning on the bed with one knee, for example, can put too much weight and pressure on these slats leading to damage and breakages. A reinforced bed offers a fully welded mesh base made of steel, a much more robust option.
Strong materials
Whether you choose a metal heavy-duty bed or a divan option, you can rest assured they are made from the strongest materials. The metal bed is made from strong cross and sidebars made of steel and it is fully welded together. A middle leg, a feature found often in a regular bed, is not needed due to the reinforced bed’s in-built stability. This means there is plenty of room for storage under the bed. If you prefer a divan design, with the option of draws under the bed, you’ll soon find that this too is crafted from a stronger-than-average material. Rather than the usual wood, this heavy-duty bed is made from the strongest MDF.
